Itinerary

Day 1

Manali – Jobri (9,800 ft) - Trek to Jwara (11,072 ft) 7 km

Morning drive to Jobri from where we will start our trek. The trek starts in the midst of a forest surrounded by maple trees till we reach Rani Nala. You will get to see a glimpse of the Dhauladhar Range with its snow clad peaks.

Day 2

Jwara (11,072 ft) - Balu ka Ghera (12,411 ft) 5 km

Today’s climb involves a lot of boulder hoping. Later you will see a variety of flowers on the way. It takes about half an hour to cross the valley. After we come out of Jwara, we need to walk further along crossing small snow flows and jumping across rocks. We will now reach the destination for the day – Balu-Ka - Ghera or The Bed of sand. The ground is mainly the sand and dust brought down by the river.

Day 3

Balu Ka Ghera (12,411 ft) - Shea Goru (12,254 ft) - Hampta Pass (14,035 ft) 6.5km

Start to descend a bit from the first ridge and travel to the side of the second ridge before starting the vertical climb. After 15 minutes of going by the side, we begin the vertical climb and it gets over in 20 minutes. We may be panting at the end of it but we are almost there at 14,035 feet atop the Hampta Pass. It can get windy at the top and sudden rain or snow also cannot be ruled out. We take a brief stop here to enjoy the beauty of the place.

Day 4

Shea Goru (12,254 ft) – Chhatru (10,898 ft) 6.8 km 5 hrs – Chandrataal - Chhatru

Compared to the other days, today will be an easier one. Morning we begin the trek. Start descending through the Hampta Valley. The magnificent Pir Panjal ranges of the inner Himalayan circle will appear ahead of us.
